Burglary arrest made in Carmel

 On January 13, 2011 at approximately 8:30 am the Carmel Police Department responded to a suspicious person call in the 400 block of 1st Avenue NW.  An alert homeowner across the street noticed a suspicious subject looking in windows and called the police.
 
Officers arrived and located an open window at the back of the house.  They set up a perimeter and started to search the house.  A subject, later identified as Bryant Cowan, saw the officers and ran out of the front door.  Officers chased the subject for a short distance and he was taken into custody without incident.  Cowan was arrested on charges of burglary, theft and resisting law enforcement.  He was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and is being held on $32,500 bond.

In this incident, an alert homeowner called police and provided information that lead to the apprehension of a burglary suspect.  The Carmel Police Department urges all citizens to be alert and report suspicious activity.
