City of Westfield announces new flex map for detailed data

The City of Westfield has announced the deployment of the Flex Map viewer. In cooperation with the Environmental Systems Research Institute and Hamilton County, the City of Westfield’s Informatics Department has configured a new Flex Map to leverage geographic information system technology while using geographic insight to reference social, economic, business and environmental data at local, regional, national and global scales.

The flex map allows users to retrieve specific data such as address points, commissioner and council districts, fiber locations, PUD information, public buildings, restaurants, trails, police beats and much more. This map will allow the public to access data in one location. Users can choose what information they would like to see in any combination and even print a customized map. Additionally, the flex map improves internal efficiency by allowing employees to edit features from mobile phones in the field while work is being performed, which ultimately makes the data more reliable.

“The City of Westfield Flex Map will increase the ability for the City of Westfield to provide the latest data through our GIS services,” said Leane Kmetz, GIS coordinator for the City of Westfield. “Please be sure to use the feedback widget if you would like to see something different – after all, it’s your map.”
