Jack C. Wood, 83, Carmel, passed away January 29, 2012. He was born in Westfield, IN on January 11, 1929 to thelate John and Rosa Wood. He graduated from Westfield High School in 1947 and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a contract administrator for Naval Avionics, retiring in 1984 after serving 35 years.
Mr. Wood was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, Carmel Dads Club, past President of Carmel Babe Ruth Baseball, past member of the Board of Directors of Carmel Greyhound Booster Club, and was an ardent supporter and attendee at his grandchildren’s sports events.
He is survived by his wife, Rita (King) Wood; sons, John Alden Wood(Kristine) and Michael Craig Wood; grandchildren, Michael Craig Wood II, Kellie Ann Wood, Andrew James Wood, Elizabeth Anne Wood, and Scott Alden Wood; andsister, Mary Stewart. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ralph Luking; daughter, Paula Ann Wood; and sister, Norma Barker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jack on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:30 AM in St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church with visitation there from 9 AM until time of service.
