The town of Fishers announced last week the appointment of Tom Dickey as the new community development director, who will oversee planning and zoning and economic development.

Dickey is a former vice president and general manager of Duke Realty Corporation.

“Tom’s experience in real estate development law, leadership in economic development projects and extensive knowledge of planning and zoning make him an invaluable addition to the team,” said Fishers Town Council member John Weingardt. “We welcome him in a newly-created role, which we are convinced will bring efficiencies to the way we approach economic development and planning and zoning from the lead phase until a project breaks ground.”

In his position at Duke Realty, Dickey led the development of projects including the 1,700-acre master-planned, mixed-use project named Anson, located northwest of Indianapolis. Dickey also practiced law at Duke Realty and as a senior associate attorney for Johnson Smith LLP.

As community development director, Dickey will be in charge of developing and updating the strategic comprehensive plan, conceptual future land use plan and regional plans such as corridor plans or town center plan. He will work with elected officials and community organizations to further develop the community’s vision. He will also fulfill the economic development director duties, which include: providing cost/benefit analysis of economic development initiatives, analyzing and coordinating tax increment financing proposal requests, administering the Town’s tax abatement program and representing the Town’s economic development interests. Dickey will assume his position immediately and can be reached at [email protected].
