The Indiana Department of Transportation will begin intermittent closures of the Hagan-Burke Trail on or after Monday, April 9, in conjunction with bridge construction along Keystone Parkway south of U.S. Highway 31 at Carmel. INDOT’s contractor, Walsh Construction, will be allowed to close the trail for three consecutive days at a time—as dictated by construction activities.
Included in the $35.7 million 146th Street interchange project is a 90-day reconstruction period for the southbound Keystone bridge over Hagan-Burke and Cool Creek, as well as the southbound bridge over U.S. 31. An 80-day closure for building northbound Keystone bridges will follow.
The trail will be closed—as needed—at the bridge sites. Meanwhile, other areas of the trail will remain open. On weekends, the entire trail will remain open during daylight hours.
The Hagan-Burke Trail winds along Cool Creek from a south juncture with the Monon Trail to 146th Street at the north terminus.
