Road closures on April 21 for road races

The Carmel Road Racing Group asks residents to anticipate short delays and plan alternate routes for the second annual Carmel Marathon Championship Weekend on Saturday, April 21 in Carmel, Ind.

The Carmel Road Racing Group has carefully planned the race routes and road closures to lessen the impact on auto traffic while ensuring the safety of race participants and volunteers. The City of Carmel Police Department will be working with race organizers and course marshals to anticipate any possible issues due to road closures. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and either time their travel to avoid street closures or seek alternative routes. Motorists should use special caution as to the changes in traffic patterns.

The races begin and finish at Carmel’s Palladium at the Center for Performing Arts (at 3rd Avenue and City Center Drive) with the courses passing through many of the city’s popular areas, including the Carmel Arts and Design District, Old Town Carmel and Carmel Clay Parks. The first race events begin at 7:30 a.m., with a maximum course time for the full marathon of 6.5 hours. The course and finish line will officially close at 2:00PM.
