Carmel resident Kathy Mayberry was recognized last month as a graduate of the 2011-12 Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

As a participant in this national leadership program, Mayberry received specialized training in preparation to serve in key governmental and political positions.

“Ms. Mayberry and the 21 other women who have been selected to participate in the program offer an extraordinary dedication to their communities,” said Lugar. “I am confident that Kathy will excel in new and important roles in public service. The women who have graduated from the series are enriching our public policy discussions and enhancing the quality of life in Indiana and our nation.”
Mayberry serves as general counsel at AgReliant Genetics LLC. Prior to this position, she was senior legal counsel at WellPoint, America’s largest health insurance company by membership.

Mayberry is the founder and co-chair of the Fox Hill Community Garden and a co-founder of the HERO Scholars Program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Indiana University and her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Michigan. Mayberry resides in Carmel with her husband, Sean, and their children Danny and Matthew.
