On Friday, July 13 at 10 p.m., Milestone Contractors will restrict northbound I-69 to a single lane as traffic is shifted to the right.  Pavement markings will be modified during the alternating single-lane restrictions to shift traffic away from the median.  The shift will allow space for workers to begin construction of a center pier for a new two-lane flyover ramp to State Road 37.  Lane restrictions will be lifted by 5 a.m. Saturday.

I-69 northbound will remain restricted to two lanes after Friday night’s traffic shift.  Traffic is expected to remain shifted to the right for approximately one month as Milestone constructs the center pier.

The $18 million Operation Indy Commute project is an initiative by INDOT to strategically eliminate recurring commuting bottlenecks on I-69 in Marion and Hamilton Counties.  The program is modeled after successful, quick-turnaround traffic flow improvements built in other states under the Federal Highway Administration’s Localized Bottleneck Reduction Program.  For more information on Operation Indy Commute, and to subscribe to project newsletter updates, visit www.indycommute.indot.in.gov.
