Keystone Parkway Exit to US 31 expected to close next Monday

0

The northbound Keystone Parkway ramp to US 31 is expected to close on Monday, July 30 for approximately 80 days.  The northbound Keystone Parkway ramp to 146th Street and Greyhound Pass via Lowes Way will remain open.

The closure follows the reconstruction of the southbound ramp, which was opened on July 3 about one week ahead of schedule.

A $35 million contract to reconstruct US 31 between Greyhound Pass and the Monon Trail will build new ramps or bridges where US 31 meets Keystone Parkway, 146th Street and Range Line Road.  During the closure, Walsh Construction, the state’s contractor, will build two bridges to carry northbound Keystone Parkway over Cool Creek, the Hagan-Burke Trail and an exit ramp before reconnecting to US 31 on a new alignment.

Shortly after the northbound Keystone Parkway closure, INDOT expects to shift both directions of US 31 to new pavement on the west side of the roadway.  At the same time, INDOT will open a new entrance ramp from 146th Street to southbound US 31 and a new southbound US 31 exit ramp to a roundabout at the intersection of Range Line Road, Clay Terrace Boulevard and Circle Drive.

The interchange contract is part of a project to upgrade US 31 in Hamilton County to freeway standards from I-465 to State Road 38.  Upgrading the 13 miles of existing highway will be, in terms of dollars, the largest and most aggressive road project ever attempted in Hamilton County

The US 31 Hamilton County corridor project is part of a Major Moves program to upgrade or bypass congested sections of US 31 between Indianapolis and South Bend.  The US 31 Hamilton County project is intended to reduce congestion, improve safety and provide continuity of commerce and regional travel for a US highway that stretches from Michigan to Alabama.
