Coffee hours moved to Hearthstone, looking forward to a shift in the news

Brain surgery. Local music acts. Fishing baits made of bullets. Philanthropic craft beer events.

In case you didn’t get a chance to see my column that ran online last week, I bragged a little bit about having the opportunity to write about a vast variety of stories here in Fishers over the past three-and-a-half months.

Thank you to the people who have taken the time to talk to me and share a story. Meeting different people every week is part of the fun of the job. At the same time, I get to work with a staff of entertaining and talented individuals in the office. It’s all managed to add up to one of the fastest summers I’ve ever experienced.

As the weather cools down, I look forward to the change of pace in news items. School is back in session. Record heats will (hopefully) go away. Construction season is slowly coming to an end. And the big one: Fishers faces a major referendum in November.

Meanwhile, business reporting has been exciting. With proposals for downtown redevelopment due back at the beginning of the month, and the Launch Fishers project taking place at the Hamilton East Library, there is no shortage of stories in that sector – another type of news I never imagined writing about. Interacting with the business elements in town has been a blast and something that I look forward to continuing in the future.

Seeing the community react to changes is exciting, and I hope I get a chance to talk to even more people in town about the news.

In terms of meeting the community, I would still like to continue my coffee hours. However, there is going to be a venue change for the time being. Coffee hours are taking place at Hearthstone Coffee House and Pub at the same time, 3-5 p.m.

Share.
