On September 29, Izabela and Ersal Ozdemir hosted a fundraiser for Dance Kaleidoscope, which she called, “Indiana’s longest dancing professional contemporary dance company,” at their home.
The event, which was hosted by the Ozdemirs and Bob Gowen (both on the Board of Trustees of Dance Kaleidoscope), was titled “A Leap Forward.”
According to Izabela, she used to dance with Dance Kaleidoscope and when she was asked to join the board two years ago she wanted to give back and, “raise money and greater awareness of the wonderful company.”
“It has always been my dream to create a moment in time where world class dancers bring to a intimate setting what you would normally see in a theater,” she said. “And an important element to allowing Dance Kaleidoscope and its dancers to flourish is through this kind of unique and intimate fundraiser.”
The evening, which included 180 guests, featured a poolside performance of Romeo and Juliet choreographed by David Hochoy, Artistic Director for Dance Kaleidoscope, and dinner. As of October 3, the event raised more than $54,000 but donations continue to pour in.
“We were overwhelmed and exhilarated at the support and turnout for our Dance Kaleidoscope fundraiser,” Izabela said.
According to the company’s website, the ensemble consists of 11 dancers all trained in the technique of Martha Graham and classical ballet.
“These talented individual artists bring their multi-faceted skills to form an ensemble dedicated to giving world-class performances of contemporary dance,” it said.
