Single-lane restriction on NB I-69 from S.R. 238 to S.R. 9 begins Oct. 11

The Indiana Department of Transportation will restrict Interstate 69 traffic to a single northbound lane between State Road 38 in Hamilton County and S.R. 67/S.R. 9 in Madison County for up to 30 days beginning later this week.
INDOT officials encourage motorists to seek alternate routes—especially during peak periods of commuter travel during morning and late afternoon “rush” hours.
Reith Riley, the state’s contractor, plans to begin round-the-clock operations to remove and replace deteriorating I-69 pavement at 7 o’clock Thursday evening.  Initial work requires rebuilding the left shoulder to support a later shift in traffic that will allow crews to reconstruct the northbound right lane.

Motorists will be restricted to the northbound right lane for approximately 10 days while the left shoulder is being rebuilt.

Once shoulder work has been completed, I-69 northbound traffic will be shifted from the right lane to the left lane and shoulder area.

The contractor is charged with removing a 11Ž2-mile-long continuous section of I-69’s right lane—between mile markers 19 and 21—and replacing it with full-depth concrete over new subbase and underdrains.

The “patch and rehabilitate pavement” contract was let last month for $1.9 million.

60,000 vehicles travel I-69 at this location each day.  INDOT anticipates daytime traffic back-ups in the northbound lane.  Southbound motorists should not experience delays caused by the construction.
