The acclaimed author of “The Adoration of Jenna Fox” will visit with teens at the Hussey-Mayfield Public Library, 250 N. Fifth St., on Nov. 7 from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.

Pearson is a California native and is the author of many books including “The Adoration of Jenna Fox,” which is the first in a trilogy. The final book in the series is set to come out March 19, 2013.

Students who register for the author event must present a signed permission slip, available on the library website or at the Teen Reference Desk. All will receive a copy of “The Adoration of Jenna Fox” and will have the opportunity to win a copy of the second book in the series.

Pearson’s Nov. 7 visit to Hussey-Mayfield Public Library is the result of more than a year’s work by library staff and Teen Council members. The teen librarian initially selected five books by different authors. Over the course of several months, Teen Council members read the books and selected the one they believed would be the most marketable, as well as the most interesting for both boys and girls in grades 6 through 12, as well as college students.

In preparation for the author’s visit, the library offered several teen programs including a butterfly tag and release event, during which teens learned how to electronically record and help track the path of a monarch butterfly. Teen Council members also led a book discussion in October.

Teens in grades 6 through college may register to meet Mary Pearson and hear about her final book in the Jenna Fox trilogy by logging into www.zionsville.lib.in.us or calling 873-8341. Pizza will be served at 6:15 p.m. Registration and a signed permission slip are required.
