A closer look at results from The National Citizen Survey data

The Town of Fishers received data from The National Citizen Survey. The survey was distributed to 1,200 homes at random. Assessment goals, including improved services, planning and program and policy evaluation are the end game.

324 returned surveys of 1,200 homes, a 28 percent response rate

–          Margin of Error:  5 percent

–          Quality of Life in Fishers:  95 percent

–          A 2 percent decrease from 2009

–          93 percent said their neighborhoods were an “excellent” or “good” place to live

–          A 3 percent increase from 2009, but equal to percentage in 2006

–          Ease of car travel in Fishers:  55 percent as “excellent” or “good”

–          A 7 percent increase from 2009

–          Traffic flow on major streets: 40 percent as “excellent” or “good”

–          Snow removal: 72 percent as “excellent” or “good”

–          Jobs growth seen as too slow on a scale of “much too slow” to “much too fast:” 58 percent as “too slow”

–          Respondents who felt “very” or “somewhat” safe from violent crimes:  approximately 92 percent

–          Fire services as “good” or excellent:” 99 percent

–          Recreational opportunities as “excellent” or “good:” 79 percent

–          Attended a meeting of local elected officials or other local public meeting:  19 percent

–          The value of services for the taxes paid to Fishers as “excellent” or “good:”  80 percent
