Amore Pizzeria lives up to its name while celebrating 10 years in business
Amore means love, and while Amore Pizzeria has spent the last 10 years perfecting its pizza, calzones, and pasta it also has spent its time building loving relationships within its community.
A personal touch is the heritage and business foundation of owners Danny and Chris Simone, who are also brothers. From Long Island, N.Y., to Zionsville the Simone brothers, who are 28 and 31, respectively, make building relationships a priority.
“Zionsville is a great community. Being here helps our business,” Danny said. “We do a lot with the community.”
From supporting Make-A-Wish Foundation, Peyton Manning’s Children’s Hospital, Relay for Life to many other charitable causes, Amore’s owners always are reaching out to the community, and their anniversary is no exception.
On Sunday, Amore is teaming up with the Zionsville Loves Staten Island project initiated by local resident Mary Ellen Kirby in response to Hurricane Sandy to bring relief to devastated areas on Staten Island. It was through a random encounter while voting in the general election that Kirby and the Simone brothers connected.
“My birthday is Saturday, the anniversary is Monday, so Sunday is our celebration. It all came together while voting. We had to do something,” Danny said.
As native New Yorkers with Italian roots, the brothers not only know good food and how to make it, they also know how the people of Staten Island are struggling.
“People are hurting. We are so far removed here. Being from Long Island we know what people are going through,” added Chris. “What we are doing is a drop in the bucket. If everyone did something, it would really help.”
Amore’s 10th anniversary celebration is Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Patrons who wear their Zionsville loves Staten Island T-shirt will receive a 25-percent discount on their order with a portion of the sales going to the cause. Hygeine items and toiletries will be collected and T-shirts will be for sale at the celebration.
