The Hamilton County Artists’ Association has announced the winners of two fine arts scholarships. Ten high school seniors from Hamilton County high schools applied for the scholarships. Each of the winning students will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Greg Dugdale of Carmel High School is one of the winners. He likes to create wearable art from materials that people discard, giving them a new purpose. He plans to study fashion design in college. Jacob Shonborn, from Hamilton Southeastern High School, is the other winner. Shonborn feels that art is not only a form of expression by the artist, but also is a way to form new ideas and to point out new understandings to the viewers that they might not have thought of before. He plans to further his education in the fine arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, in Chicago, Ill.
