Michael Peed, 38, of Fishers was killed Sept. 20 as a result of a five-vehicle crash on northbound I-69 between 96th and 116th Streets.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Peed was waiting to exit 116th Street when his vehicle was struck from behind by Maurice Calhoun, 45, of Indianapolis, who did not stop his car. As a result of the force of the crash, Peed’s vehicle struck the car in front of him before he veered into a lane occupied by an oncoming semitrailer truck, driven by Timothy Brown, 57, of Indianapolis. The semitrailer then struck Peed’s car.

Dean Clark, 52, of Noblesville, was injured and transported to Riverview Hospital for neck and knee pain.

Another passenger from a vehicle suffered leg pain and was taken to IU Health Saxony Hospital in Fishers.

There were no other injuries reported.

The crash happened just after 4 p.m. and resulted in the closure of I-69 for several hours. No charges had been filed as of press time. Indiana Steve Police will investigate the crash and submit the results to Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office. The office will then decide whether to file formal charges.

Construction on the interstate has been ongoing for several months and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
