Why did you become a teacher? I had a very influential teacher in fourth grade, Miss Tasseff. I had a rough year in third grade and she brought me around to loving school again. I really admired her and wanted to grow up and be just like her. I even remember making her a “pet rock.”
What goals do you have for your students? I want my students to always strive to do their best, and to love learning along the way.
What do you encourage parents to do at home to help their children strengthen particular skills? We all say it every time – read to your child, and also listen to them read to you. I also would say encourage and support your child as they work to learn independence, be it shoe tying, making their own lunch, or monitoring their own homework responsibilities.
What is your favorite movie? Shawshank Redemption
Who is your favorite musician or band? I like many kinds of music, but love country: Darius Rucker, Rascal Flatts and Lyle Lovett.
What’s something your students might not know about you? I love sleeping in on the weekend!
