On the lookout for interns

Looking for writing experience? A chance to get published? Exposure of your work to over 110,000 households on the north side of Indianapolis? I might have a solution for you …

I have started my new position coordinating and training interns and would love to talk with you about available internship positions. I know what you’re thinking: “Me? I don’t have enough experience. I’ve never done anything like that before.” A year-and-a-half ago I said the same thing when I walked through Current’s door with two goals – to gain experience and be a contributor. I came with no published writing experience, a business background and a Master of Divinity degree. Not the typical résumé to become a journalist, but here I am.

We are always on the lookout for people who love to write and who are involved in their community. Story topics are broad, ranging from entertainment to profile pieces to new businesses, and we welcome both high school/college students and adults. Any stay-at- home moms out there ready to do something creative after having the kids at home 24/7 during the snowpocalypse?

Recently, I have been working with students on their J-term who are home from school, and I’m continually impressed with the talent of our youth. If you have any doubt, check out the Night and Day cover this week and read The Second City story by DePauw sophomore Zach Manges.

Photography is also an option, especially if you love to get out and about and enjoy events around town.

So, if you love to write or snap photos, maybe it’s time to share your talent with the world, or at least the Zionsville community. If so, send me an e-mail with samples and I will be in touch.

Until then, my wandering continues …

Share.
