World famous band, The Chieftains, have made a name for themselves over the past 50 years by bringing traditional Irish music to the masses.

But they have branched out in their old age, even utilizing the service of famous country producer T-Bone Burnett to help create their most recent album, Voice of Ages. That album featured collaborations with musicians including Bon Iver, Paolo Nutini and The Decemberists.

So when The Chieftains promise to bring guests to their performance, expect to be pleasantly surprised.

Some Franklin College students have been selected to perform on stage with the Chieftains during the concert. The Irish Arts Academy of Indianapolis is doing a pre-concert showcase in the Robert Adam Room (located in the Palladium), starting at 6pm. The Palladium will also host a free 2 Gingers Whiskey tasting, provided by Republic National. And the Basile Café, located in the Palladium, is offering a special Irish-themed menu on March 6. The café menu will include Irish stew with Irish soda bread, Reuben sandwiches, Shamrock cookies and green beer.

The Chieftains will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 6 at the Palladium. Tickets start at $50. For more information call 843-3800 or visit www.thecenterfortheperformingarts.org.
