Carmel firefighters responded to a report of a fire with billowing black smoke at about 5 p.m. April 17 in the Village of West Clay.
It turned out that a barn was on fire in the 12400 block of Hoover Road, and wind threatened to spread the fire to a nearby house.
The house and barn are a part of a community property maintenance facility, said fire officials. The buildings did not contain occupants.
The Fishers and Zionsville Fire Departments assisted in putting out the blaze.
No cause has yet been determined said fire investigators.
