Hamilton Town Center will host its first-ever free chalk art festival on from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 17.

People of all ages are encouraged to attend the festival, and artists at any level can participate.

The festival will offer both professional and amateur drawing categories. Attending families can text to vote for their favorite work of art.

The top three artists in each category will take home a Simon Malls gift card. Children 11 and younger will all receive a medal for their participation.

The festival will not only include an almost-infinite chalkboard to draw on, but also face painting and balloon artists.

The festival will also feature live music provided by Not Your Average Boy Band, Blonde Sonja Trio and The Bleeding Keys.

Special demonstrations and information will be available from The Indianapolis Zoo, Comb’s Kettle Corn, Elite Martial Arts, Beezer Homes and the Hamilton County Family Magazine.

Artists can preregister or they can enter the festival the morning of the event.

Chalk will be provided.

If it rains the day of the event the chalk art festival will be moved to May 18.
