The Switch construction starts today; Fishers Train Station to be demolished

0

Construction on The Switch, phase two of the Nickel Plate District redevelopment, will begin today as crews remove the current train station building. Construction is expected to last through the fall of 2015.

The Switch project includes a 33,000 square foot office building, a 400-space parking garage wrapped with apartments and mixed-use space, and a pedestrian train plaza. The iconic Fishers train platform will remain in place, but will be enhanced for better ADA accessibility and to accommodate future mass transit needs.

On August 4, the Town Council approved plans to include community space in the first floor of the new mixed-use space. Plans could include a meeting room, public restrooms and a ticket booth for the Indiana Transportation Museum.
