Fishers Police Dept. investigates motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian

September 4, 2014-Shortly after 7:30pm, this evening, Fishers police officers and emergency personnel from the Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

This crash occurred at the intersection of Lantern Road and Turin Court. The motor vehicle involved was a 2005 Toyota Matrix passenger car. After striking the pedestrian the driver, of the Toyota, immediately stopped and rendered aid to the pedestrian. The driver reported that she was traveling westbound on Turin Court approaching Lantern Road. As she was preparing to stop at the intersection she became distracted and took her eyes off of the roadway. The driver did not see the pedestrian prior to the crash. According to evidence, at the scene, the pedestrian was walking southbound across Turin Court when she was struck by the Toyota.

The pedestrian was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. As a result of the crash the pedestrian suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The Fishers Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team responded to collect evidence and investigate the crash. The driver fully cooperated with the investigation. At this time it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
