At 12:16 a.m. March 8, Indiana State Police responded to a serious crash on I-465 westbound at the 32 mile marker. 911 callers told dispatchers the vehicle had flipped several times.

Upon arrival Troopers were told one two year old child had been transported to IU North by a citizen who stopped to help.  A four year old child was still on the scene being treated by IFD. The four year old was transported to Riley Hospital in critical condition. The left three lanes of I-465 westbound at the 32 were closed for approximately 90 minutes.

Troopers determined 22 year old Brittani Whitlock of Indianapolis, was driving a green 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer and lost control for unknown reasons. She was transported to Eskanazi Hospital to be treated for injuries. She was found to be driving with a suspended license and was wanted on a warrant through Marion County for Driving While Suspended, Unsafe Lane Movement and operating a vehicle without financial liability.

When the vehicle was up righted by the tow truck a handgun was located inside the vehicle  as well as $3000 cash in a purse.  A records check indicated the handgun was stolen.

This is an ongoing investigation. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court of law.
