State budget proposal passes senate

0

This week, the Senate passed House Bill 1001, commonly known as “the budget bill.” HB 1001 is Indiana’s two-year fiscal plan that funds the state’s most important needs, creating a strong foundation for Indiana’s economic future.

My colleagues and I are committed to continuing Indiana’s track record of responsible budgets that put taxpayers first and maintain our hard-fought reserve funds.

The budget proposal is balanced with no tax increases to keep our state’s economy headed in the right direction. From the start of session, education has been our first priority for state spending. This budget plan reflects that priority, with more than half of General Fund appropriations going to K-12 education.
