Sadie Reecer has been hired as managing editor for Current Publishing’s Westfield and Noblesville editions. She began her tenure on April 20.

“Personally, it’s an achievement,” said Reecer, 25. “It’s a big deal to move up in my career as a journalist. My role will be very different but not what I am covering.”

Reecer grew up in Sharpsville and graduated from Tri-Cenral High School and then Ball State University. She has been covering Hamilton County for the past 16 months as a reporter for The Times.

“I’m very excited for each edition,” she said. “I’m glad I’m able to keep covering those areas in an expanded role. These are the places I would want to cover if I had the choice.”

In her free time, Reecer enjoys photography and going to the movies. She and fiancé Zach will be wed in early May. The couple lives in Noblesville.

“When I started everything was new to me. I’ve grown to love the county, particularly Noblesville and Westfield,” she said. “Since I started reporting, I’ve learned a lot more about government and how it works. I enjoy meeting the people in the communities. It’s fun to get to go to things I wouldn’t normally have gone to – it broadens my horizons.”

Reecer replaces Robert Herrington, who ended his 3.5 years at Current with this publication. Herrington has become the communications manager for the City of Noblesville.

“Sadie has been a staple at government and school meetings and at community events. I know her knowledge of each community will benefit our readers,” Herrington said. “It’s bittersweet to leave but I know the baton has been passed to capable hands.”

Reecer may be reached at [email protected].
