The May Teacher of the Month winner is Kasey Cope, a teacher at Pleasant View Elementary. She was nominated by several students in her second-grade class. As a reward, the class received a pizza party and Cope won a $100 cash voucher from Teacher of the Month sponsor BMO Harris bank. Pizza was sponsored by Amore Pizzeria.

Here are the winning essays:

I think Miss Cope should be Teacher of the Month because she helped me learn a lot about team work from the Bike Your Way to Safety project to make our school’s bike path safer for people and bikes. Miss Cope has helped us win three grants for our bike project. The total amount of money came to $9,999.34 so we can make the bike path either asphalt or concrete. She has encouraged us a lot with the project. She has also been helping us with our States Fair, where we learn about a state and teach others about that state. She treats all of us with love, kindness, and respect. I hope Miss Cope will be Teacher of the Month.

Josiah Nyce

Miss Cope is a very good teacher. I think Miss Cope should win teacher of the month because of the amazing year I’ve had in 2nd grade. While I’m with Miss Cope I have had a good experience each day. She makes learning fun by playing games and helping us earn grants. We entered 3 grants and got 10,000 dollars. How we started this experience was one day Miss Cope looked at the trail and she said “There is something wrong with this path.” So, the next day she told us about what she saw and asked us how we might fix it. Now we have 27 kids in this project. We worked and also used the grant money to pave the bike path with concrete. I can’t believe we did this but we could not have done this without the help of Miss Cope. I’ve had a great experience with all these kids and my special teacher, Miss Cope. I hope she wins this special award because she deserves it!

John Turnbull

Miss Cope, (a 2nd grade teacher) is the most wonderful teacher you could have. (I’m not trying to brag, but it’s true!) Her outstanding teaching could probably be in first place. Her knowledge impresses me, with every single problem she solves. I love how she challenges me at just the right level. There might be other good teachers in the world, but she is probably one of the best. The candy she gives us doesn’t really matter, her kindness is really all what matters. As I met her it was like 1000 diamonds floating in the sky. If you met her, you would probably understand me.

Allie Miller

Miss Cope is my second grade teacher. She is really nice and she has helped us finish a bike path project. This project is about helping kids on bikes that need to go to school safely. We raised $10,000 because Miss Cope is so helpful and kind. We also had a poetry contest and I wrote a haiku poem and she sent it in to a company who entered it into their book. It made me feel awesome. She is really good at teaching. I am learning multiplication because she is SUPER GOOD! I hope you pick Miss Cope as Teacher of the Month.

Alex Wray

I would like to nominate my second grade teacher Miss Cope at Pleasant View Elementary in Zionsville for teacher of the month. I think she should be teacher of the month because she is very nice and works very hard to teach us everything we need to know in second grade. She did so much work helping our class win three grants so we could raise money to fix our bike path at our school PVE so it is safe for everyone to use it.

She is a good Math teacher too.

I like when we are good for a substitute she gets us donuts or cupcakes!

I wish I could have her again next year!

I really hope Miss. Cope wins teacher of the month she deserves teacher of the year!

Sam Anderson

I think Miss Cope is a great teacher because she always is nice to us and helps us learn things we need to learn. When we make mistakes, we can trust her to be kind. My favorite things that I’ve learned with her are: learning new math problems, getting better at reading, and learning the process of writing stories. We are glad that we can do our PBL project. I think Miss Cope is a wonderful teacher. I think she has been very nice all year, and I am happy I am in her class!

Phoebe Zucker

I think Miss Cope is the best teacher because she gave us candy at the end of the day. I think Miss Cope is the best teacher because she is very very nice. I think Miss Cope is the best teacher because she let us build legos and then write about them.

Jack Schulte

I think Kasey Cope from Pleasant View Elementary should be teacher of the month. I think so because she has helped us a lot this year. We had a project where we raised $10,000 in grants and paved a bike path right next to our school to make it safer. She helped the most then by encouraging us to follow bike safety and to believe in ourselves that we could do anything once we put our mind to it. It was really fun and Ms. Cope had fun too. She is also very nice and caring. She has been amazing this year and I think she deserves to be teacher of the month.
