During a trip to Indiana and the Indianapolis 500 race, a group of officials from Nova Prata, Brazil visited Noblesville for several days over the holiday weekend. The two cities became Sister Cities in 1996 as a mutual commitment to build bridges between governments, businesses and individuals.
Since the signing, the cities have been busy with a youth exchange that has annually rotated between the cities along with medical doctors, exchanged economic development ideas and flourished global friendships.
To assist Nova Prata, the City of Noblesville donated a fire truck and firefighting equipment and uniforms in 1998 and an ambulance and medical equipment was also donated in 2004.
