Perry E. Lewellen, 93, of Indianapolis, formerly of Carmel, died on June 8. Perry was a bomber pilot in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he continued in the Air Force reserves as a troop carrier pilot until 1970.
Perry was employed as a construction engineer for Shell Oil. In early retirement, Perry and Anita traveled North America in their Airstream Travel trailer, wintering in Melbourne, Fla. His memberships included Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, Carmel Golden K Kiwanis and the Military Officers Association. He and Anita gave countless hours volunteering at St.Vincent Hospital.
Perry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anita on February, 22.
Survivors include his son, Gary, and wife, Patricia; granddaughter, Margaret and husband, Robert and grandson, Mark.
