This is a new acting experience for Madeline Hatfield.

“It’s super fun to play the villain,” the Carmel High School freshman said.

Hatfield performs Vivienne Kensington in “Legally Blonde, The Musical JR” musical for Christian Youth Theater.

The performances will be at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 30 and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Marian University in Indianapolis.

Vivienne is the nemesis of lead character Elle Woods, who is the new girlfriend of Elle’s ex-boyfriend, Warner.

“In the beginning, she’s the enemy and she tries to make Elle look bad and feel inferior,” Hatfield said. “Then at the end they are friends.”

Hatfield, who has been acting since sixth grade, actually played in Carmel Middle School’s junior musical version of “Legally Blonde” a year ago. Hatfield played Whitney, who is Vivienne’s sidekick.

“The musical version is so good,” Hatfield said. “I love it so much.”

CHS senior Jarrett Yates performs as Emmett Forrest, Elle’s boyfriend.

“He’s kind of a nerdy guy and becoming that character is so interesting,” Yates said. “I’m kind of a nerd but I’m stepping into this bigger role is kind of difficult. With the size of the roles comes more responsibility. Becoming this leadership position is so awesome.”

Brooke Bucher, a senior who is being home schooled, performs as Elle. Other cast members are Warner Huntington III:  Brayton Wilds, Fishers High School, sophomore; Professor Callahan: Sam Surette, Bishop Chatard, freshman; Paulette: Lily Smith, Guerin Catholic, sophomore and Brooke Wyndam: Cara Nowlin, Clay Middle School, seventh grade.

The Delta Nu Sisters are Margo: Grace Dearing, CHS, sophomore, Serena: Isabel Garcia, Carmel Middle School and Pilar: Jaala Berry, Northpoint Homeschool, eighth grade.
