Carmel and Indianapolis area residents will have the chance to meet Mario Batali, one of the most recognized and respected chefs worldwide. During a pre-registered public meet-and-greet, Batali will sign autographs and give guests a chance to pick up a copy of his newest cookbook, “America-From Farm to Table: Simple, Delicious Recipes Celebrating Local Farmers.” Customers with a Market District Advantage Card will instantly receive a 25 percent discount on the cookbook.

The appearance is free to the public; however, tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Advanced ticket registration is available online at marketdistrict.com/events.

The new 120,000-square-foot Market District store features an array of gourmet prepared foods, a sweets shop with hand-dipped chocolate novelties and other confections, a chef demonstration kitchen, an expanded assortment of international foods, a bulk food section and more. These delicious offerings are complemented by national brand items customers most prefer, as well as a wide variety of favorites under the Market District brand, promising high quality at a great value.

Batali counts 25 restaurants, 10 cookbooks, numerous television shows and three Eataly marketplaces among his ever-expanding empire of deliciousness.

In April, Batali opened Babbo Pizzeria e Enoteca, his first Boston project. The 8,700-square-foot restaurant, featuring wood-fired pizza, pasta, gelato and more, is located on Beantown’s famed Fan Pier waterfront district. He also opened the most well-received Eataly yet in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in May of this year.

Batali is the author of 10 cookbooks including the James Beard Award Winning, “Molto Italiano: 327 Simple Italian Recipes” (ecco 2005). Batali’s released his newest cookbook, “America Farm to Table: Simple, Delicious Recipes Celebrating Local Farmers” (Grand Central Life & Style), in October 2014. This book is an homage to farmers, the true rock stars of the food world.

Batali appears daily on ABC’s “The Chew,” a daytime talk show on ABC that celebrates and explores life through food. He and his co-hosts won their first Emmy as Best Talk Show Hosts this year.
