Boone REMC will give away five $500 scholarships for students attending a post-secondary institution full-time for the 2016-17 school year. The winners will be chosen during a random drawing at the annual meeting March 12. Students have three options for filling out the application and turning it in.

“The applications have been sent to local schools, and they’re on our website. They can download it, fill it out and email it to me by Feb 26. They can print it off, fill it out and bring it with them when they come to the annual meeting. The third option is to come and fill it out in person at the meeting,” said Mandy Saucerman, Boone REMC communications and marketing specialist.

Students must live in a household that receives electricity through Boone REMC, and one member of the household must be present at the meeting to win. The meeting opens at 8:15 a.m. in the Witham Pavilion at the Boone Co. 4-H Fairgrounds, 1300 E. 100 S., Lebanon. A free breakfast, including biscuits and gravy and eggs, will be served.

“We’ll have different booths set up about different programs that we offer – rebates, energy efficiency programs, youth programs,” Saucerman said.

The business meeting will begin at 10 a.m. It will include an annual report, elections and a drawing to select the scholarship winners.

The scholarships are awarded annually. Boone REMC typically receives 40 to 50 applications each year. The application offers some history into the company’s 80 years of service in Boone Co. and a short quiz.
