Former local radio personalities and Fishers couple John and Ann Craig-Cinnamon have traveled the world together for more than 20 years. Along the way, they’ve collected a wealth of photographs of sights, people and exotic animals.

When they first started traveling, the Cinnamons were limited on how time they could take off because of their radio careers. Now as business owners and entrepreneurs, they can devote more time to seeing the world. They’ve visited many of the famous capital cities in Europe and are now into adventure travel. Recently, they climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa.

“I think the initial plan for climbing Kilimanjaro was just that. That would be probably enough for most people to do, but in our case, we thought while we’re there let’s do a couple more safaris in the Zambia area,” John said.

During their travels, the Cinnamons have met people who have touched their hearts.

“In Cambodia we noticed these houses. We asked our guide if we could stop and see one,” John said. “We went into this man’s house. It was a tiny two-room hut. We asked him through our guide if we could take some pictures of him and the house. He agreed, so as we were about to leave as a thank-you to him we gave him five dollars. At that, he jumped up and ran out to the street where his daughter was cooking the sugar to make candy. He had her package up two little packages of this sugar candy in return for the five dollars. We were giving him the five dollars as a thank-you. He would not take that without giving us something in return. It was one of the most selfless things we’ve ever experienced.”

The Cinnamons will host an event through Fishers Park and Recreation Dept. Oct. 6. For more, visit, fishers.in.us.
