The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said the first drill is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. and is designed primarily for school and work participation. The second drill is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. and encourages families to have plans at home for severe weather.
During the drills, outdoor warning sirens should sound. Weather radios, cell phone apps and other warning devices will also activate as Indiana is placed under a Tornado Warning for a brief period.
Indiana averages approximately 20 tornadoes each year, with 35 tornadoes recorded in 2016.
