One person dies in Zionsville house fire

0

On June 20 at approximately 7:50 p.m., Boone County Sheriff Deputy Rob Watson was on patrol and reported a house on fire with flames visible at 710 N US 421 in Zionsville. Deputy Watson made several attempts to alert occupants of the fire.

As Zionsville Fire Dept. units responded, they were advised that there could be someone inside the residence.  The Zionsville Fire Dept. arrived within five minutes of the initial call and made an aggressive interior attack to locate and confine the fire.

A Whitestown Fire Dept. crew that was assigned search and rescue located a victim and removed her outside to a waiting paramedic ambulance crew. Regrettably the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.

A neighbor who tried to make entry into the home prior to the fire departments arrival was treated and released on the scene. No firefighters were injured in the fire.

At this time, the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
