Zionsville Lions Club to host July 4 celebration at Lions Park

The Lions Club will continue its tradition of celebrating the Fourth of July with a bang. It will host the July 4th Celebration beginning at 5 p.m. July 4 beginning in Lions Park, 115 S. Elm St.

The event will include food, live entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. with DJ Blazin TRAXX and a 30-minute fireworks show synchronized to music at dusk. Typically, 12,000 to 15,000 people attend the event.

Special guests will include Zionsville town leaders, the Zionsville Fire Dept. and Zionsville Police Dept., the newly crowned 2017 Miss Indiana Outstanding Teen Ellie Barnes and Miss Indiana Haley Begay. Begay will perform the national anthem at 7 p.m.

The Lions Club celebration has been a local tradition for the past 37 years. It started with the Zionsville Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1930.

July 4th Celebration Chairman Steve Gayheart and his team work year-round to organize the event.

Elephant ears, kettle corn, shaved ice, lemon shake-ups, burgers, hot dogs and pizza will be available for purchase.

Games and entertainment will be provided by The Pacers Fan Jam, St.Vincent Hospital and the Zionsville Boys & Girls Club. Celebration Central will provide bounce houses and slides at 5 p.m.

“Zionsville’s July 4th Celebration is a coming together of our communities to enjoy and appreciate our freedoms and love for our country. Thanks to the men and women who served and are serving,” said Gail Robbins, president of the Zionsville Lions Club.

The cost for parking is a $5 donation to the Zionsville Lions Club. The parking lot opens at 4 p.m. The rain date is July 8.
