The 2017 CarmelFest will feature more than 39 vendors offering unique, international, fun and flavorful foods.

Jess Lawhead, CarmelFest food vendor chairman, said when selecting vendors the committee values unique offerings, including international and uncommon food combinations. CarmelFest reviews the vendors’ track records and previous festival experience and closely works with the Hamilton County Health Dept. to ensure that the vendors are following the recommended procedures.

Red Frazier Bison will feature its Indiana-raised bison. Great Crab Cakes will offer East Coast crab cakes and Da Blue Lagoon will serve Jamaican cuisine. Guacamole and More, LLC., a Carmel Farmer’s Market favorite, will serve fresh guacamole. No Label at the Table, a new company that employs people with autism, also will be on-site selling its gluten- and dairy-free treats.

CarmelFest will be filled with specialty and festival favorite foods, including gyros, corn on the cob, chicken skewers, fried Twinkies and funnel cake.

Lawhead said the Fourth of July is like any other holiday when it comes to celebratory food.

“A large part of American holiday traditions revolve around bonding and celebrating over food. The Fourth of July is no exception,” Lawhead said. “Families love to come out to CarmelFest for their favorites: elephant ears, funnel cakes, barbeque brisket, corn on the cob, but every year we like to bring in unique offerings to keep everyone coming back.”
