After school French – After school French is being offered for Zionsville Community Schools elementary schools three days a week. Classes begin Aug. 14, and guests may visit a class for free during the first two weeks of school. College news – Jennifer Hoops of Zionsville graduated from Grinnell College.

Parks programs – Make Your Own Flower Fairy, 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 12. Fairies are beings that protect the earth: its plants, its animals, and its people. Join us for an afternoon of imagination as we explore the history and lives of fairies. You’ll be inspired to make your own flower fairy. Then we’ll end the program on a fairy friendly nature hike. For ages 3 and up with an adult. Register at [email protected]. Cost is $5 per fairy.

Class of 1987 reunion – The Zionsville Community High School class of 1987 will celebrate its 30-year reunion at 7 p.m. July 28 at the Tap Room, 7629 W. Stonegate Dr. For more information call 317-250-2210.

ZCHS class reunion – The Zionsville Community High School Alumni Association announces the fifth annual all-class reunion, to be held from 7 to 11 p.m. on July 29 in the Lion’s Club Park. For more information or to get involved, visit ZionsvilleAlumni.org.

Library programs – Back-to-School Book Bash, 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 3. Students entering grades 4 and 5 are invited to join us as we wreck some journals and share recommendations for our favorite books. 55th Birthday Party Carnival, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Free seminars for seniors – CarDon & Associates is partnering with Indy Mature Living to help educate Indianapolis-area seniors about issues related to home ownership and post-retirement downsizing. The free seminars will highlight senior living options for those over the age of 55, downsizing, and other educational topics. Upcoming topics include: Tax, Financial, and Legal Issues from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at Altenheim, 3525 E. RCIA reunion – Did you go through RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation) at St. Alphonsus Liguori? Please meet fellow sojourners and reunite with your RCIA class at the first annual RCIA Reunion and open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 30. Those who are interested in attending RCIA, the program that allows you to learn about and/or join the Catholic church, are also invited to hear about the program and meet past participants. Native Habitat tours – St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 3106 E. Carmel Dr., invites you to tour our Native Habitat and Rain Garden on the church grounds with naturalist guides this summer at 7 p.m. Aug. 9. The tour is open to church members and the general public.

Library help needed – The library will host a shelf reading party from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept 7. Join our Youth Department staff anytime during the day to help get the children’s section back in order. Snacks and drinks will be provided. No experience is necessary – just a willingness to help. Caring Center golf outing – The Caring Center will host a golf outing on Sept. 30 at the Golf Club of Indiana, 6905 S. 525 E., Lebanon. Tickets are $75 each and include 18 holes of golf with cart, cook out lunch at the turn and choice of beverage or alcoholic drink. There will also be an opportunity for four amateur golfers to compete in a hole-in-one contest at the end of the day. Vendors sought for festival – The Zionsville Lions Club is seeking vendors for the Fall Festival. Vendors are needed in the areas of arts and crafts, commercial services, kid’s corner, pet pavilion, and park sponsors. The festival will be held Sept. 8-10. For an application, visit ZionsvilleLions.org. Applications are due by Aug. 25. Applications received after Aug. 25 will incur a $50 late fee.

Outstanding Teen Pageant – Registration is now open for the Lions Club Miss Fall Festival Outstanding Teen pageant. This scholarship pageant will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Whitestown Municipal Building. The pageant is open to all girls 13-17, who are not yet high school seniors and who reside in Boone County. The new Miss Fall Festival Outstanding Teen will win a $500 scholarship. Parks Department hiring – The Parks Department and Zionsville Golf Course is currently hiring for: Park Maintenance Tech-II, Part-Time Night Golf Course Watering Staff and Part-Time Zionsville Golf Course Pro Shop Staff.
