Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard will deliver his annual State of the City Address Oct. 11.

He’ll recap the past year at the October luncheon for OneZone,  the combined chambers of commerce for Carmel and Fishers. The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ritz Charles in Carmel.

Check-in begins at 10:15 a.m., and there will be time for networking with display tables from several businesses. More than 750 people are expected to attend. Reservations are required by noon Oct. 9.

Brainard has much to discuss for the year, including roundabout construction;  developments in Midtown; the new ice skating rink and Christkindlmarkt; the Monon Greenway expansion; corporate headquarters relocations; a new luxury hotel in Carmel’s downtown; and several community events and festivals.

“I’m going to talk about the progress we made in the past year and the exciting things coming up next year,” he said. “There will be a very frank discussion about our fiscal situation.”

In years past, Brainard has used the State of the City to announce new projects, such as  the ice skating rink. Brainard wouldn’t say whether he has any unexpected announcements.

“It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you,” he said.
