Special screenings planned for Flix Brewhouse

October is a busy month for one of two movie theaters in Carmel.

Flix Brewhouse is showing weekly horror classics all month long, ending the October celebration with an interactive sing-along showing of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on Halloween night.

On Oct. 23, Flix will do a special showing of the cult classic “Beetlejuice,” and then follow that up with a horror favorite “A Nightmare on Elm Street” Oct. 26. Both shows are at 7 p.m. and cost $5.

At 7 p.m. Oct. 31, expect movie-goers in costume to fill Flix for its showing of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” which costs $7 a ticket.

“Always interactive. Always entertaining,” said Ron Hahn, manager of Flix Brewhouse.

Victor Talavera, from Flix’s corporate office, said screenings of this movie have been a strong draw for decades.

“They can get a little weird, but hey, that’s the whole point of it all,” he said. “But that’s an example of the interactive films we like to do. We did (an) ’80s Sing-A-Long night, and we did a Quote-A-Long night, where we played a movie and almost everyone knew every line. We want people to have fun.”

Hahn said they don’t think they’ll have to screen anyone’s costume to make sure it’s appropriate.

“It’s not the only movie that people come out to in costume,” he said. “We played ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail,’ and there was a guy in a full ‘Tim’ costume, and besides him, there was a knight.”

This month, Flix also is hosting a special premiere for an independent thriller made by an Indiana filmmaker.

At 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25, local filmmaker Earl Wayne Crabtree II will premiere his first feature-length film entitled, “Wolf at the Door,” a serial killer thriller with some crazy twists.

“It’s kind of like a mystery, kind of like a puzzle film,” Crabtree said. “It’s a thriller, and the film will take you down a weird path. It takes the audience and the character on this weird experience that can be hard to understand unless you take it apart piece by piece.”

There will be some a short Q&A after the screening. Tickets cost $30 for regular admission.
