Jennifer Luczak was contemplating a way to design a unique fundraiser for Zionsville Community High School’s show choirs.

“The reason my co-chair (Erin Leonard) and I came up with the idea was we wanted some kind of fundraising activity that both involved kids so they had some skin in the game and also something that involved the community,” said Luczak, who was the fundraising chair of the Zionsville Show Choirs Inc., for several years. “We have our fundraiser at the end of the (school) year, our finale show, and it’s always a sold-out show. People love to see these kids sing and dance so we thought how could we incorporate another event in the community. We came up with home tour.”

The Carol of Homes Holiday Home Tour is set from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 2. The tour, which is organized by the parents, features the school’s Choralaires, all-female choir, and Royalaires, a mixed show choir.

There are six homes on the tour, including four of parents of show choir students.

Luczak, who is in charge of publicity this year, said it’s all about how the homeowners want to decorate their homes.

“We don’t ask them to do anything special,” said Luczak, whose son, Joe, is a senior show choir member. “It’s what they want to do with their homes on the holidays.”

Royalaires co-president Meredith LaPlante’s is participating in the home tour for the third year.

“I love being able to participate in such a fun and festive community event,” LaPlante said. “I love being able to ring in the holiday season by interacting with the community and singing carols with my peers in ZSI. On top of that, the homes that are part of the tour are wonderfully decorated. This event has a special way of getting everyone in the holiday spirit. The support we see from the community is absolutely astonishing and greatly appreciated.”

Tickets are $20. Advance tickets are available at Akard’s Hardware, Five-Thirty Home and Inga’s Popcorn or at the homes on the day of the event. Century 21 Scheetz office will serve as a welcome center for the tour, where tickets and hot chocolate can be bought. Ticket holders can start at any of the six homes.
