The Carmel Plan Commission’s commercial committee Dec. 5 approved plans for a new Aldi grocery store at 10584 Workout Way. The 22,000-square-foot building is proposed on the southwest corner of 106th Street and Michigan Road just north of LA Fitness.
Aldi Greenwood Division Vice President Laura Bauer said it is too early to confirm any details about proposed store.
Earlier this year, Aldi announced an aggressive $1.6 billion investment in stores nationwide, including $30 million for enhancing 22 stores throughout Indianapolis and surrounding areas by 2020.
The investment will focus on creating a more modern and convenient shopping experience with expanded produce, dairy and bakery sections. According to Aldi, the remodeled stores will have a modern design with open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials.
By the end of 2018, Aldi will have nearly 2,000 stores nationwide serving more than 45 million people each month.
