She’s only moving her store two blocks away, but Erica Carpenter is already preparing.
“It’s a lot of logistics,” she said. “We still have to move everything.”
Carpenter owns Five Thirty Home, which will move from 20 North Main St. to 205 South Main St. in March.
The Bender Square property is currently occupied by Delaney’s, which also has locations in Fishers and Geist. All three stores are closing.
“I’m sad as a fellow business owner that Delaney’s is closing,” Carpenter said. “I hope Zionsville is thankful that another small business is going in there.”
Carpenter’s new space will more than double her current square footage and provide basement storage. Much of her work is now done remotely, which will change with the additional space.
“I’ll be able to be in the store a lot more,” she said.
Carpenter had been searching for a larger location for several years and told the Bender family to let her know if the property became available.
In the new store, Carpenter plans to expand her furniture and paper goods options and create a dedicated area for Zionsville-themed items. She will continue her milk-paint classes and may add more class options.
She will send a survey to customers to help determine what other items to add.
Five years ago, when Carpenter first opened her store as Five Thirty Resale, she didn’t know how much space she would need or how the store would evolve.
“When we started, I had no idea that it was going to turn into this,” she said.
Through the years, items have been added and the need for more space became apparent. The shop specializes in repurposed and refinished furniture and the materials for customers to do it themselves, plus home goods, accessories and decor.
