Hamilton County Civil War Roundtable meeting on Valentine’s Day features guest speaker, holiday surprise

In addition to hearing a speaker at the Hamilton County Civil War Roundtable meeting on Feb. 14, guests will also receive a special Valentine’s Day surprise.

Michael B. Murphy will speak about his book, “The Kimberlins Go to War: A Union Family in Copperhead Country.” The Kimberlins were a Scott County family whose war efforts included sending 33 of their family members to war.

Michael B. Murphy is a senior vice president at Indianapolis advertising and public relations firm Hirons and Company. He is chairman of the board at Monarch Beverage and has served as an Indiana state representative for 16 years. Murphy is also a member of the Indiana Historical Society Board of Trustees.

The event will be held at the Carmel Clay Public Library in the program room. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will start at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend the free event with no reservations needed.   

The Indianapolis Civil War Roundtable is comprised of amateur and professional historians in central Indiana. They are dedicated to studying and understanding the American Civil War. The Roundtable encourages those who have an interest in the American Civil War to join them.
