Robert G. Auscherman, 81, of Carmel, passed away at sunrise on Father’s Day, June 17. He died at home after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Jan. 20, 1937, in Indianapolis, he attended both Ben Davis and Shortridge high schools. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in England. Upon returning to the U.S he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic control specialist in the Indianapolis Regional ATC Center for more than 30 years.
Bob is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Suzanne Wallace Auscherman, daughter, Wendy Auscherman Reed, son, Andy Auscherman (Natalie) and four grandchildren, Amy, Allie and Drew Auscherman and Cooper Reed. He his also survived by sisters Jene and Janice and brother, Ron. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Greg Auscherman, his sister, Joyce Allen and brother, Bill.
A celebration of life service will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. June 24 at Flanner Buchanan Carmel. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name may be made to MARY RIGG Neighborhood Center, 1920 W. Morris St., Indpls., IN 46221
