The Westfield Washington Public Library will feature live music in its parking lot by the band The Jennerators at 6 p.m. June 30. This is a new program for the library.

“These kinds of events are now becoming popular all over in Westfield, and I think we need to step up and hold some fun events for our patrons and families can come,” said Karyn Millikan, information reference manager at the library. “We need to do some family fun things and I think this is a way to do that.”

The classic rock band is named for its front woman, Jenni Hadden. The event is free and open to all ages, though attendees are asked to bring their own seats.

Millikan began her position with the library in April, and she said she wants to offer similar events in the future.

“I would like to see us venture out into doing more of that type of programming, be it concerts out in our parking lot or who knows,” Millikan said. “My goal is to open up our programming and try and get more fun, family friendly programs and more fun things for the adults. We have a lot of programming like bingo and euchre, and I’m just trying to think of other things that might benefit our patrons.”

No RSVP is required. ttending counts as a “book” for those participating in the summer reading program.

Although it is not guaranteed, the library is trying to line up a food truck. The music is part of the rock genre. For more on The Jennerators, visit jennerators.com.
