On July 16, the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township Board of Education approved the hiring of a new principal for Fall Creek Valley Middle School.
Ruben De Luna has served as an assistant principal at Lawrence North High School since 2013. Prior to that, he was dean of students at Center Grove High School.
Before becoming an administrator, De Luna’s teaching experience included business classes at Pike Township, Franklin Community Schools and then Center Grove.
“Mr. De Luna’s diverse experiences and extensive knowledge of programming at Fall Creek Valley, which matriculates to Lawrence North High School, make him an ideal fit for this position,” MSDLT Supt. Shawn Smith stated.
“I am ecstatic to serve the students and families of the Fall Creek Valley community,” De Luna said. “FCV has been a beacon of excellence for many years. I am dedicated to growing this tradition and will work with staff, students and families to make sure all students share in this excellence. It’s great to be a Bearcat.”
De Luna graduated from Butler University in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He earned his teaching certification in 1995 from Ball State University. In 2000, he obtained a master’s degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University in curriculum and instruction, later earning his building level administrative certification.
He has three children, Laney, 17, Grace, 13, and Anna 11, and two stepchildren, Lucy, 18, and Finn, 9. His wife, Jill, is a school counselor at Lawrence North High School.
