Officers scoop ice cream to fundraise

Whitestown Metropolitan Police officers served ice cream to the public July 17 at Fundae’s Ice Cream & Sweets, 7165 Whitestown Pkwy. The officers’ holsters carried ice cream scoops instead of guns in an effort to raise funds for WMPD’s annual National Night Out event.

National Night Out will take place Aug. 7 at the Whitestown Municipal Complex. WMPD will celebrate police K-9s from across the nation. The event is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police/community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to improve community safety and morale. National Night Out provides an opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. (Photos by Dawn Pearson)
