Constant road construction leads to decision to close J. Razzo’s restaurant, owner says

Italian restaurant J. Razzo’s will close its doors for good Sept. 15 as a result of constant construction nearby, according to owner John Perazzo.

The restaurant, at 12501 N. Meridian St., has been affected by the reconstruction of U.S. 31, closures to the 126th Street bridge and installation of nearby roundabouts, Perazzo said.

“I cannot tell you how many people get lost or frustrated trying to find J. Razzo’s. I have fought the City of Carmel and INDOT for years and to no avail,” Perazzo wrote in a letter to Current. “My business is down 40 percent from the first two years. After six years of lower sales and permanently losing an exit from the highway, I will have to call it quits.”

A second J. Razzo’s restaurant is in Westfield at 3150 East S.R. 32.
